The Son Also Rises in Egypt

He's an American favorite and a reputed reformist so how sure are we that Gamal Mubarak is not the next Bashir Asad? We're not. Gamal lived in London so everyone gets all giddy that he is going to bring about reform and maybe he will. It is important to note that the same high hopes surrounded fellow London resident Bashir Asad's ascencion in Syria and he has been nothing short of a colossal disappointment. If Gamal does assume power it would be difficult for him to reform a system that would deprive the very people who are his base of support. The hope is that Gamal, who appears to be much better prepared for being a head of state than Asad, could make the necessary changes to modernize Egypt's political and economic systems.
