Solidarnosc!

It was 25 years ago that the independent labor movement, Solidarity, was founded in Gdansk. Despite its humble beginnings the group would spearhead a revolution that would help shatter the Iron Curtain. openDemocracy.net recalls the history of Solidarity and how it brought down Communism and the WaPost's Anne Applebaum, who was based in Poland for a number of years, reflects on what Solidarity means to the Poles today.
