Iraq Roundup - On Oil and Generals

Today LAT tries to explain why Iraqi oil production in Iraq is below pre-war levels. What follows is a nightmarish chronicle of incompetence and miscommunication. Everyone is to blame for the lack of oil production in Iraq - the US and Iraqi governments as well as KBR a subsidiarly of Halliburton. About the only thing I can say is that this should disabuse anyone that this war was for oil because if it was somebody somewhere would have found a way to make the changes necessary for Iraq to make the $8 billion it is currently losing due to lower production.
If you are W you know things are bad when the WashTimes is saying that things aren't going well in Iraq and that the insurgency could last for years. In a schizoprenic article the WashTimes notes that Generals aren't as optimistic as they once were but the article closes ignoring the military's concerns and pointing out signs that al Qaeda is in decline in Iraq.
